Mike Hiles Special to Valley News As a way to encourage and promote literacy at the Soboba Tribal Preschool, Lenora “Ponie” Mojado recently completed a tree mural on one of the large walls of the hallway that features shelves to display books. November’s selections include books from the Tribal Child Care Association of CA to celebrate Native American Heritage Month. Typically, throughout November, the teachers offer activities that culminate in a big family feast with students and parents. Because of the pandemic, this year activities are being sent home. Many activities are designed to open communication among families about how Native families have celebrated their heritage in the past. Lenora “Ponie”
