Ben Clark Training Center closed after trainees test positive for COVID-19

RIVERSIDE (CNS) - Several recruits attending classes at the Ben Clark Public Safety Training Center in Riverside tested positive for COVID-19, prompting authorities to shut down the facility, sheriff's officials said Saturday, Nov. 21. The training center was closed on Thursday and sheriff's officials said they are working with the county's public health department to implement the appropriate isolation and quarantine measures. ``During this suspension, the department will be thoroughly disinfecting the academy and any area in which the staff and recruits have access,'' Sgt. Albert Martinez said. The facility has been closed to the public while academy staff has been reduced and non-critical personnel at the training center are now telecommuting, he said.
