Temecula plans to widen a portion of Ynez Road within the next 2 years

Drivers will soon see some traffic relief on a long-congested Temecula roadway.Ynez Road, one of the Temecula’s most important north-south thoroughfares, is designated as a “principal arterial” roadway for a 2.2-mile stretch between Winchester Road and Rancho Vista Road, according to the city’s general plan, meaning it should have three lanes in either direction for that length.But the road actually goes down to four lanes in either direction south of Rancho California Road, and while it retains two southbound lanes from there to Pauba Road, it has just one northbound lane south of Tierra Vista Road.As anyone who has tried to drive Temecula end-to-end in the middle of the afternoon knows, that single northbound lane on Ynez Road is the frequent site of traffic backups,
