Motorists turn belligerent after crash; officers quell tensions

SAN JACINTO (CNS) - A pair of motorists involved in a collision Tuesday, Jan. 5 on Highway 79 north of San Jacinto turned hostile and reportedly threatened to shoot each other, but law enforcement officers quelled tensions and no one was arrested. The crash happened about 10:30 a.m. on the northbound 79, near Gilman Springs Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. After the Honda Accord and Chevrolet pickup collided, the drivers parked on the shoulder of the highway. Witnesses said one of the drivers, identified only as a woman, jumped out of her vehicle holding a can of pepper spray. The other motorist then began making threats, culminating in a heated exchange during which the two sides allegedly vowed to use firearms, according to reports from the scene. Riverside County F
