Felon allegedly carjacks woman, attempts to flee from deputies

MURRIETA (CNS) - A parolee suspected of stealing a Lake Elsinore motorist's vehicle at gunpoint and trying unsuccessfully to flee from sheriff's deputies was being held without bail Monday, Jan. 11. Carlos Armando Venegas, 26, was arrested in the predawn hours Saturday and booked into the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of carjacking, assault with a deadly weapon, felony evading, being a felon in possession of a firearm and parole violations. According to Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Rick Garcia, Venegas allegedly confronted a woman parked in the 29000 block of Lupine Hills Drive, near McVicker Canyon Park Road, shortly after 11 p.m. Friday.
