Felon charged with carjacking woman, trying to flee deputies
MURRIETA (CNS) - A convicted felon accused of stealing a Lake Elsinore motorist's vehicle at gunpoint and trying unsuccessfully to flee from sheriff's deputies was charged Wednesday with carjacking and other offenses.Carlos Armando Venegas, 26, was arrested Saturday following a brief chase in Lake Elsinore.Along with the carjacking count, Venegas is charged with felony evading, assault with a firearm, being a felon in possession of a gun, possession of methamphetamine and probation violations.He's being held in lieu of $500,000 bail at the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta and is slated to make his initial court appearance at the nearby Southwest Justice Center Thursday.According to Riverside County sheriff's Sgt.
