New Lake Elsinore city manager to take over in March

Lake Elsinore will soon have a new city manager. Current city manager Grant Yates announced at the end of December his intention to retire from the city in February. On Tuesday, Jan. 12, the Lake Elsinore City Council voted in closed session to appoint Jason Simpson, currently Lake Elsinore’s assistant city manager, to step into Yates’ role and directed the city attorney to draft an employment agreement to be approved at a later time, according to a statement from the city. “Under Mr. Yates’ leadership, we have built an incredibly competent, high performing organization that is committed to making a difference in our community each and every day,” Mayor Bob Magee said in the city’s statement. “Mr. Simpson has earned this opportunity and we are confident in his abilities
