The California Baptist University women’s basketball team clinched its first-ever Western Athletic Conference regular-season championship after beating Grand Canyon University 79-64 in the CBU Events Center Saturday, Feb. 20. Ane Olaeta, the WAC Preseason Player of the Year, had a season-high 26 points and nine assists. It marks CBU’s first winter sport team WAC championship, joining women’s cross-country and baseball as the only programs to have claimed a conference title since transitioning to NCAA Division I in 2018.The Lancers also have a chance to make WAC history and become the sixth team all-time to make an undefeated conference run, joining San Diego State (94-95), Colorado State (98-99), Louisiana Tech (02-03), Fresno State (09-10) and New Mexico State (16-17).The
