Rain, snowfall create road hazards in Riverside County

RIVERSIDE (CNS) - Frozen precipitation and flooding prompted road closures and safety measures in parts of Riverside County Thursday. According to the California Highway Patrol, light snow accumulation and slush required the agency to order snow chains for all vehicles traveling through the eastern Anza Valley and along Highway 243 between Mountain Center and Idyllwild. Officers were stopping vehicles on Highway 74 east of Hemet in the San Bernardino National Forest, enforcing the chain rules. Additionally, officers were asking all motorists trying to enter the federal preserve via Highway 371 east of Anza to have chains. Motorists coming from Pinyon Pines via Highway 74 to the east, heading toward Lake Hemet, were also facing CHP checkpoints, according to the agency. No motori
