Hemet City Council approves new finance and accounting plan

The Hemet City Council approved a more transparent detailed financial reporting procedure and decided to maintain the city’s own no spending limits on election campaigns in the future instead of using the states election campaign limits in its April 13 city council meeting.The council on the advice of a contracted financial adviser asked staff to come up with a set of written procedures in the way financial reporting and accounting procedures are done. The request came after the required state financial audit said the city lacked formal policies and procedures in its financial reporting in the past few years.The staff after months of work provided the council with a written comprehensive policy for the uses of the city’s revenues and expenditures including the use of petty cash
