Menifee rider Jo Shimoda won his first AMA Supercross race, and the 250SX class victory in the April 24 race at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City also made Shimoda the first Japanese-born rider to win an AMA Supercross main event. “We’re super excited for Jo and for all of Japan. He’s starting to become a household name in Japan,” Monster Energy senior vice president of sports marketing Mitch Covington said. Shimoda rides a Kawasaki KX250 and is part of the Monster Energy ProCircuit Kawasaki team. “We’re super proud that he did it flying the Monster colors,” Covington said.
