Motorcyclist fatally injured In collision with SUV east of Hemet identified

HEMET - A motorcyclist killed in a collision with an SUV just east of Hemet was identified today as a 47-year-old Beaumont man. Charles Clarke was fatally injured about 4:05 p.m. Monday at Johnston Avenue and Yale Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, Clarke was going northbound on his 1989 Kawasaki 600, traveling at an unspecified speed, moments before reaching the intersection. "The driver of a Jeep Cherokee going westbound on Johnson stopped at a stop sign, then pulled onto Yale,'' CHP Officer Matt Napier told City News Service. "The Jeep pulled in front of the motorcycle.'' The vehicles collided, and the impact flung Clarke onto the roadway, causing catastrophic injuries.
