RCWD awards Vail Oak Road repair contract
A January 2017 storm washed out Vail Oak Road which provides access from the Vail Lake recreational vehicle resort to Vail Lake and the Vail Lake marina. Although KEI operates the campground, the Rancho California Water District owns the property which includes the road. The water district had to work with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and with permitting agencies before the road could be rebuilt, but in June the RCWD board voted to award a contract to Kay Construction for the road repair.The 6-0 board vote, with technical difficulties preventing Bill Wilson from casting his vote during the virtual meeting, approved a contract with Kay Construction for the Santee company’s bid of $272,053 and authorized an additional $265,000 of appropriations to bring the total budgeted am
