The Southwestern League basketball coaches recently met to go over the selections for the All-League teams. For the girls’ team, Chaparral showcased junior Hunter Simon as the league MVP. Simon had a season high 267 points and scored 14.1 points per game. For the boys’ team, Great Oak showcased senior Damien Adame, who led the Southwestern League with 20.9 points per game this past season.
Murrieta Mesa was the first-place team on the girls’ side of the court. The Lady Rams went 8-2 in league play and won their second straight Southwestern League title. They also had two first-team selections and one second-team selection. The remaining five teams had one selection for both the first and second teams.
Great Oak took home the Southwestern League boys’ title this past season with an 8-2 record and along with their MVP selection in Adame, they had one selection for both the first and second teams. Murrieta Valley, who also boasted an 8-2 record, but fell to Great Oak in the standings, were the only team to have two first-team selections and one second-team selection. All other teams had one selection for both the first and second teams.
