Blaze erupts in Lakeland Village, burning garage and threatening homes

LAKELAND VILLAGE (CNS) - A fire that broke out July 21 in Lakeland Village consumed just over an acre and damaged a detached garage before crews stopped it. The two-alarm blaze was reported at 1:20 p.m. in the area of Stoneman Street and Samuel Drive, just south of Lake Elsinore, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. Crews encountered wind-driven flames moving in the direction of two to three homes. The fire engulfed the detached garage of one property, according to reports from the scene. Firefighters established a defensive perimeter and prevented the blaze from impacting the houses. At 1:45 p.m., the fire's forward rate of spread was stopped, according to officials. There was no immediate word on how it started.
