Firefighters responded to a wildfire Sunday, July 18, between Mountain Center and Hemet in the San Jacinto mountains.
The blaze was reported at around 11:30 a.m. and was burning near State Route 74, according to the U.S. National Forest Service.
Firefighters from Riverside County and Idyllwild were assisting USFS crews.
The flames blackened about a quarter acre and were burning at a slow rate of spread with minimal smoke, officials said.
“While lighting activity occurred in the area earlier today, the official cause is under investigation,” the USFS said.
No injuries or structure damage were reported.
