Fentanyl abuse in the valley, a shocking reality

It is a shocking truth that fentanyl, an extremely powerful synthetic opioid analgesic now being found in other common drugs illegally sold on the street can kill a person in a very short time.It is another shocking truth that Riverside County, according to the county coroner and district attorney’s office, has seen an 800% increase in fentanyl related deaths in the county since 2016, many of those teenagers and young adults.And one more shocking truth is that a single police department in Riverside County, 1-year-old Menifee City Police Department, reports its Bureau of Investigation has already seized 5.6 pounds of fentanyl on the streets. That is equivalent to 5.5 million lethal doses which is deadly enough to kill the county’s population of 2,47 million people twice.“
