What I learned from Fallbrook High School’s unconscious bias teaching

With all the concern over critical theory possibly being taught in our local high school, I requested the curriculum and teaching aids used by FUHSD relating to unconscious bias, critical race theory and other related topics. I spent hours going through it and I appreciate the high school providing it to me in a timely manner. From what I was given, and from what I could see, there was a lot that was helpful to teach young people. We want to teach them to be thoughtful and kind, no matter who they are talking to. Under the microaggressions teaching, I appreciated much of the messaging against “The everyday slights, indignities, put-downs and insults that people of color, women, LGBTQ populations and other marginalized people experience in their day to day interactions.” It went o
