Menifee City Council adopts a camping and storage of personal property in public areas ordinance

The Menifee City Council, on the request of the police department, introduced an ordinance establishing regulations for camping and storage of personal property in public areas that previously did not exist in the city codes.The ordinance was requested by Police Captain David Gutierrez at the Oct. 6 council meeting after he explained that officers between July of last year until August of this year had responded to 193 calls for service associated with illegal encampments, many of those by homeless individuals.He said in his report, “These calls are handled by patrol officers and our Problem Oriented Policing unit.
