MENIFEE (CNS) - Menifee police today announced receipt of an $80,000 federal grant that will enable officers to conduct targeted patrols to crack down on drunken drivers, speeders and other scofflaws."Poor driving habits, including intoxication, speeding and cell phone usage are causing senseless loss of life,'' Menifee police Chief Pat Walsh said. "This funding allows us to increase our traffic enforcement efforts, with the goal of reducing serious injuries and fatal crashes on our roads.''The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration grant, which must be expended by next October, will provide funding for DUI checkpoints, pedestrian safety campaigns, distracted driving awareness education and other efforts, Walsh said.According to the chief, the funds will also pay for tr
