WINCHESTER (CNS) - A car fire spread to some hay bales adjacent to a road in Winchester today, but the flames were quickly contained. The non-injury blaze was reported at 10:53 a.m. on Briggs Road, just south of Leon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.The agency said that a car with flames under the engine block pulled onto the shoulder, igniting several round bales. Riverside County firefighters reached the location within 15 minutes and stopped the flames from extending into the adjacent field. The blaze was knocked down by 11:30 a.m.CHP officers shut down the northbound side of Briggs for public safety, enforcing traffic control in southbound lanes to move vehicles in both directions.
