LAKE ELSINORE – Motorists who travel Railroad Canyon Road to enter or exit Interstate 15 in Lake Elsinore should be prepared for delays tomorrow night, with lanes on both sides of the corridor scheduled to be closed for construction.
According to the Riverside County Transportation Commission, one lane on both the east- and westbound sides of Railroad Canyon is due to be shut down while crews make adjustments as part of the $41 million Railroad Canyon Road Interchange Project.
The lane closures are scheduled between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 4 a.m. Wednesday, RCTC said.
Traffic volumes will be lighter during the overnight hours, but officials said there will still be travel delays going in both directions at the underpass.
The interchange project got underway in May 2020 and is expected to conclude at the end of this year.
Crews are adding a new lane on both sides of the four-lane corridor at I-15, as well as constructing auxiliary lanes on the freeway at the location to ease congestion.
