The Palm Springs Police Department would like to remind those hiking the local mountains to remember to take adequate safety precautions.In the past week there have been several rescues conducted by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department on the Skyline Trail near the crest of the mountain.An air rescue was conducted Thursday, Jan. 27, near the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway after two people in their 60s who were hiking on the Skyline Trail in the San Jacinto Mountain, ended up trapped on the trail due to the icy conditions.Two state park rangers proceeded up the trail to rescue the couple and while attempting to reach them, one of the rangers slipped on ice and fell 100 feet into a ravine, officials said.The ranger had injured his leg and was hoisted out of the area by th
