WILDOMAR (CNS) – The Riverside County coroner’s office today named the two people who died when they were ejected from their vehicle in a high-speed crash on the Temecula Valley (15) Freeway in Wildomar.
The crash occurred about 2 a.m. on the northbound side of the freeway near the Clinton Keith Road off-ramp, the Riverside County Fire Department reported.
Wildomar residents Isaac Barrera, 24, and Eliyu Arellano, 34, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the coroner’s office.
The California Highway Patrol reported that Barrera was behind the wheel of a 2007 Mercedes-Benz going over 100 mph when he made an unsafe lane change and sideswiped a Ford Escape, sending his vehicle swerving out of control and into the center median.
The CHP said the Mercedes subsequently overturned multiple times, ejecting Barrera and his passenger, Arellano, who were not wearing seatbelts.
The driver of the Ford — identified only as a Santa Ana man — suffered minor injuries.
