Bicyclist Crashes into Car, Suffers Major Injuries in San Jacinto

SAN JACINTO (CNS) – A bicyclist suffered major injuries this evening when he crashed into a car in San Jacinto today.
The crash occurred about 6:30 p.m. on Lake Park Drive south of Soboba Road, according to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Dawn Blair.
The male patient was alive but unresponsive when deputies arrived on the scene, Blair said. He was taken by paramedics to a hospital for treatment of major injuries.
“The investigation revealed the subject was riding a bicycle in the number-two lane of southbound Lake Park Drive as the Honda was traveling within the number-one lane of southbound Lake Park Drive,” she said. “As the Honda passed the bicyclist, the bicyclist veered into the number-one lane, colliding into the passenger side of the Honda, causing the subject to fall off the bicycle.”
The Honda driver stopped immediately to render aid to the bicyclist and call for help, Blair said.
It was not yet known whether alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision, she said.
