NUEVO (CNS) - A debris fire that sent a plume of thick black smoke over Nuevo today was quickly knocked down by crews before it could spread into surrounding vegetation.The non-injury blaze was reported about 2:30 p.m. in the area of Polley and Jacinto streets, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.The agency said that multiple engine crews were sent to the location following reports to the California Highway Patrol of a brush fire, with smoke visible from surrounding freeways.Firefighters encountered a confined debris pile ablaze, not threatening any properties and not extending into vegetation, according to officials at the scene.Crews got the fire under control within 15 minutes.
