The much-loved canine mayor of Idyllwild died after suffering a medical emergency that required the assistance of a veterinarian.“Max is in the hospital with a fever of nearly 107,” his Chief of Staff Phyllis Mueller wrote on social media. “They don’t know what’s wrong, he could not get up this morning and had to be carried to the car and into the vet’s office. I have had to sign the papers for immediate medical emergency handling and resuscitation.”Mayor Max, a 9-year-old, good natured and friendly Golden Retriever, had captured the hearts of people in Idyllwild and beyond.
