TEMECULA – Luiseño Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution members honored the Constitution as one of the nation’s most important documents from Sept. 17-23. D.A.R. started Constitution Week with a petition to Congress that was later adopted as a resolution and signed into law in 1956. For Constitution Week, D.A.R. holds the annual celebration “Bells Across America.” During the past month, Luiseño participants gathered to ring bells, much as the church bells of Philadelphia rang out when the U.S. Constitution was first signed at 4 p.m. Sept. 17, 1787.Another activity which Luiseño members and other Chapters embrace is creating educational exhibits about the Constitution which are then placed in local libraries.
