Sheriff’s deputies discover firearm during traffic stop

Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputies conducted a traffic stop in Anza and located a firearm inside the automobile Monday, March 6, at 2:23 p.m.

The vehicle, containing the driver and one passenger, came to a halt in the parking lot of a shopping center located on Highway 371 and Contreras Road in the unincorporated town of Anza. During the traffic stop, deputies located a firearm inside the vehicle.

According to Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Sergeant Wenndy Brito-Gonzalez, the driver was arrested on weapons charges and the passenger was released from the location.
