Motorcycle gang member charged with choking wife during squabble

MURRIETA – A documented motorcycle gang member accused of beating and choking his wife during a domestic confrontation at their Temecula home was charged today with assault resulting in great bodily injury and other offenses.
Ty Dehono Rivers, 39, was arrested Thursday following a two-week search by Riverside County sheriff’s deputies.
Along with the assault count, Rivers is charged with spousal abuse resulting in great bodily injury.
The defendant, who is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail at the Byrd Detention Center, was slated to make his initial court appearance Monday afternoon at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta.
According to sheriff’s Cpl. Tim Quick, on the evening of March 31, Rivers and his wife, whose identity was not disclosed, were involved in an argument that turned physical at their residence in the 28600 block of Old Town Front Street. “The suspect … strangled his spouse,” Quick said.
The victim was apparently able to free herself from his clutches and call 911. “Prior to deputies arriving, the suspect left the location on his motorcycle to an unknown location,” he said.
The woman was taken to a regional trauma center for treatment of “moderate non-life-threatening injuries,” Quick said.
“Information gathered during the investigation revealed that Rivers was a member of an outlaw motorcycle gang and was known to carry firearms,” the sheriff’s spokesman said.
An arrest warrant was obtained, and deputies tracked the defendant to a house along Silver Fox Court, in an area known as Slaughterhouse Canyon, on the western edge of Murrieta, where he was taken into custody without incident Thursday, according to Quick.
According to court records, Rivers has been charged with felony and misdemeanor offenses in the past, but the cases have all been dismissed. Copyright 2023, City News Service, Inc.
