SAN DIEGO – To bring more awareness to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, and to celebrate the different ALS Care Services, Valley View Casino & Hotel has partnered with the ALS Association in Greater San Diego to host the 8th Annual ALS Fiesta Fundraiser. On Wednesday, May 10 starting at 5 p.m., at Valley View Casino & Hotel, San Diego’s Favorite® casino, the event will focus and support the Care Services pillar of the ALS Association’s three pillars of ALS Research, Care Services and Advocacy.
Valley View Casino has proudly been the ALS Fiesta Fundraiser event’s host and sponsor for six of the eight years since the ALS Fiesta Celebration first began in 2016, with a two-year interruption during COVID. This night is all about supporting the ALS community in San Diego and beyond to help impact change. With 216 guests attending this year’s event, it will continue to support and focus on ALS Care Services honoring our caregivers who give so much of their time to care for their loved ones living with ALS.
The event will be hosted by special guest Sarah Trott, influencer, former ‘Bachelor’ contestant and ALS advocate and caregiver, who recently lost her father to ALS. Advocating for many years, ALS is close to Trott’s heart, due to her personal understanding of how ALS caregivers need support too. “At 19 years old, my dad was diagnosed with ALS,” Trott explains. “The journey ahead of me wasn’t what I had planned but I now see I was meant to help others in their caregiving journeys. Finding a support system, whether it be in your own backyard or across the country, is why I started a support group for caregivers. People need to depend on one another, especially upon learning of a diagnosis like ALS.”
The night will begin with poolside cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at 5:30 p.m., followed by the main event and program with speakers, including Trott. As the night goes on, guests will enjoy handcrafted drinks, delicious hors d’oeuvres, a gourmet dinner from Valley View’s award-winning restaurant chefs, a silent auction, an online auction, paddle raises for the event’s attendees and much more.
“The ALS Association, especially Keith Miller, was instrumental to our overall wellbeing,” Trott added. “Knowing we were not alone, while my father was living with ALS, was a huge relief to not only myself but my mom and family. We always knew we could rely on the entire team to be there when we needed them.”
This Fiesta is to benefit the ALS Association’s mission to discover more treatments and a cure as well as to serve, advocate for and empower all families and caregivers that are affected by ALS. The event will conclude with gifts from Valley View and the ALS Association including a beautiful chip & dip set, a stylish windbreaker and other logoed apparel.
“It is such an honor and privilege for our team to host this very special night to support as many families as possible that are affected by ALS. We are very proud and honored to support such a worthwhile cause and the amazing ALS Family. Every year we look forward to seeing all of our friends from the ALS Community while learning more about the progress being made by the ALS Association every day,” says Bruce Howard, General Manager of Valley View Casino & Hotel.
Valley View works together with all of their business partners so all proceeds from this event can go directly to the ALS Association in Greater San Diego. For more information, please visit alsasd.ejoinme.org/Fiesta. For media inquiries, please contact Bianca Kasawdish at Bianca@TeamInnoVision.com.

About The ALS Association in Greater San Diego
The ALS Association in Greater San Diego’s purpose is to discover treatments and a cure for ALS and to serve, advocate for and empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest. ALS, or more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. ALS usually strikes people between the ages of 40 and 70 and approximately 20,000 people in the U.S. have the disease at any given time.
Although there is not yet a cure or treatment that cures ALS, scientists that are funded through the ALS Association research program have made significant progress in understanding what causes ALS. The symptoms of ALS usually start with progressive loss of muscle control and gradual loss of the ability to speak, swallow, walk, grasp objects, move and breathe.
