At least one killed in head-on crash in Winchester

WINCHESTER  – At least one person died today in a head-on crash in Winchester.
The two-vehicle collision happened on State Road 79 at the convergence of Scott Road and Washington Street around 5:10 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. One person was temporarily trapped in the wreckage of one of the vehicles, the CHP reported.
There was no immediate word on the age or gender of the deceased. The person’s name will be withheld pending notification of next of kin.
No other injuries were immediately reported.
The CHP was investigating.
