May 31, 2023 – While Menifee Police Department (MPD) officers were on campus at Ethan Chase Middle School investigating a separate incident, a student unrelated to the incident alerted staff that another student possibly had a firearm on campus.
School staff immediately located the identified subject and escorted them to the office. Officers assisted with the search based on the allegations made and located an unloaded firearm in the subject’s backpack. There were no threats made to the school or other students on campus by the subject. The campus was not placed on lockdown during the incident.
MPD officers conducted a thorough investigation and the subject was arrested for felony possession of a firearm on school grounds. The subject was transported and booked into custody at the Ri
