Motorcyclist dies after crash in Sage

A 20-year-old motorcyclist died Sunday, June 18, after crashing with a pickup truck in Sage.The crash was reported at 9:50 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Red Mountain and Sage roads, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.The motorcyclist was riding a 2016 BMW S1100 motorcycle northbound on Sage Road just north of Red Mountain Road at approximately 90 to 100 mph, according to the California Highway Patrol, while a 49-year-old Hemet man and driver of a 2011 Nissan Frontier was southbound on Sage just north of Red Mountain at approximately 45 to 50 mph.The motorcyclist approached a curve in the roadway, but was traveling at a speed too fast to safely traverse the curve in the roadway, according to the CHP.
