Fire Consumes Mobile Home, Nearly Advances into Brush in Good Hope

GOOD HOPE  – A fire consumed a mobile home today in Good Hope, injuring the occupant and nearly spreading into surrounding vegetation until firefighters stopped it.
The blaze was reported at 1:30 p.m. in the 23200 block of Mapes Road, near Sophie Court, in the unincorporated community just southwest of Perris, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Responding crews encountered “heavy fire” in the structure, from which the occupant escaped with her cats, fire officials said.
The woman suffered unspecified minor injuries and was taken to a regional trauma center for treatment, the fire department said. Her pets apparently were not hurt.
Firefighters established a defensive perimeter that prevented the flames from extending into thick vegetation on all sides of the residence, according to officials.
The blaze was completely contained an hour later. It was not immediately known what caused it.
