Perris blaze burning west of Perris is at 49 acres, but according
to officials at the scene, it is slowing down and no longer posing an immediate
threat to structures. Multiple structures and vehicles have been destroyed or
damaged by the flames.

PERRIS – A fire erupted today just west of Perris, blackening about 15 acres and damaging at least one structure by the time fire crews deployed to the location.
The blaze was reported at about 2:30 p.m. in the area of Juniper and Santa Rosa Mine roads, between Gavilan Hills and Perris, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said multiple engine and hand crews from the county, Hemet Fire Department, Corona Fire Department and Murrieta Fire & Rescue were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a rapid rate to the east amid moderate winds.
Two Cal Fire air tankers and at least two water-dropping helicopters reached the area prior to ground crews and commenced a series of runs on the brusher, trying to close off its eastern flank, according to reports from the scene.
Several residences and multiple outbuildings were in the path of the fire, and mandatory evacuations were imminent in the lightly populated area, officials said.
There was no word on what might have triggered the blaze.
