HEMET – A man was fatally stabbed today during a confrontation on a Hemet street, but the whereabouts of the assailant were unclear.
The attack happened about 12:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of South Gilbert Street, near San Marcos Drive, according to the Hemet Police Department.
The agency said witnesses called 911 reporting a disturbance at the location, and when patrol officers arrived moments later, they found the victim, whose identity was not immediately released, “suffering from several stab wounds.”
The gravely wounded man was taken to a regional trauma center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police would not disclose whether a suspect had been identified, or whether an arrest was imminent. A possible motive was not provided.
