PINE COVE – A hiker died today on the San Jacinto Peak trail near Pine Cove, the Riverside County Fire Department announced.
Firefighters responded to the trail around 11:40 a.m. Saturday where they tried to gain access to the hiker, who had suffered a medical emergency.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Rescue 9 helicopter was unable to access the area where the hiker was located, and the victim died before first responders arrived, according to the fire department.
The hiker’s identity was not immediately known.
