Thirteen people were arrested during a Menifee Police Department Driver’s License DUI Checkpoint operation held Friday, April 19.

According to The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, San Jacinto Station, 1003 vehicles were screened while conducting the checkpoint on State Street north of Seventh Street.

Two people were arrested for DUI, one person was arrested for public intoxication, one person was arrested for an outstanding warrant and nine people were arrested for driving with a suspended driver’s license during the checkpoint which ran from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Officers also conducted 5 field sobriety tests, impounded 13 vehicles and issued 25 citations for driving without a driver’s license.

“DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes,” Sgt. Patrick Lynch said. “The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints are to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.”

Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
