Dear Residents of District 5,I want to take a moment to bring your attention to two important health observances this month that deserve our collective recognition and support: Mental Health Awareness Month and ALS Awareness Month.These observances are opportunities to destigmatize mental health conditions, promote resources, and raise awareness for ALS, a devastating disease.According to the National Institute of Mental Health, 1 in 5 adults live with a mental illness. Yet, too often, mental health struggles are shamed, preventing people from getting help. We must educate ourselves on common conditions and support our loved ones by listening without judgment, encouraging them to share their experiences.ALS is a devastating condition that affects nerve cells controlling vol
