TEMECULA — In a display of consistent excellence and precision, freshman Fay Jia of Vista Murrieta High School secured her place as the champion of the CIF Southwestern League Girls Golf Finals. Held at the scenic Redhawk Golf Club on Thursday, Oct. 24, Jia delivered an impressive overall score of 139 over two rounds, claiming the top spot with a ten-stroke lead over her nearest competitor.

Breanna Noble, a sophomore from the same school, finished in second place with a commendable score of 149. This stellar performance by Jia and Noble underscored Vista Murrieta’s dominance in the competition, cementing their reputation as a powerhouse in girls’ high school golf.

Jia’s victory comes on the heels of her outstanding performance at the Rainbow Sandals Classic in September, where she not only took home medalist honors but also shattered the program record with a remarkable round of 4-under par on a par 73. Her ability to consistently play under par has made her a force to be reckoned with in the league, and her recent win only solidifies her status as one of the top local players in the sport.

Throughout the season, Jia has been instrumental in leading Vista Murrieta to key victories against teams like Temecula Valley and Great Oak. Her scores of 34 (2-under) and 33 (3-under) in league matches were pivotal in these wins, highlighting her role as a crucial member of the Broncos’ squad.

With the regular season now behind them, Jia and Noble will look to carry their momentum into the CIF Southern Section postseason events. The individual regional qualifiers are set to take place at Bear Valley Golf Club, Los Serranos Country Club-South Course, and Los Robles Greens on Oct. 28. From there, the top 24 players will advance to the section’s individual championship tournament on Nov. 7 at Temecula Creek Inn.

As the postseason unfolds, all eyes will be on Jia to see if she can continue her impressive run and secure further accolades for Vista Murrieta.
