The per diem pay for Eastern Municipal Water District directors has been increased.
A 5-0 EMWD board vote January 15 approved an increase from $258 to $267 for each board meeting or other meeting involving EMWD business a board member attends. Board members can collect per diem pay for up to ten meetings a month.
Eastern’s Administrative Code allows for a per diem increase of up to 5.0 percent each calendar year, and the per diem pay may be rounded up to the nearest whole dollar. Rather than utilizing the entire 5.0 percent increase, which would have equated to $271 per meeting, the board opted to use the 3.3 percent cost of living increase which is utilized for EMWD employees.
