The March 13 meeting of the Rancho California Water District board included rejecting the bids to renovate equipment at Well No. 232 and rehabilitate Well No. 139.The 6-0 vote, with Brian Brady absent, rejected the bids while approving additional funding in the project budget to allow the work to be conducted in-house. The budget for Well No. 232 was increased from $597,000 to $897,000 while the budget for Well No. 139 was increased from $325,000 to $665,000.Well No. 232 was constructed in 1984 and is off of De Portola Road approximately 600 feet east of Anza Road. The well is outside the 100-year flood zone but within a special flood area subject to flood depths of up to 1.0 feet during significant rain events.
