USDA orders increases in National Forest logging operations across the nation

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced in national news that it will be increasing the nation's timber quotas by 25% on nearly 113 million acres of national forests including those in San Bernardino, Angeles, Los Padres and Cleveland forests. This means that lumber companies can now come into some of those forest areas, not previously logged, and begin cutting and removing trees. The southern California forests shown on a USDA map across the nation show large areas of the area forests are included. The emergency order follows the announcement of President Trump of the increased tariffs being placed on other countries including Canada, a large importer of lumber to the US. It addresses the growing shortage of lumber products needed to build the many new housing developments taki
