TVUSD revises and reinstates parental notification policy

The Temecula Valley Unified School District board has revised and reinstated its parental notification policy, requiring schools to notify parents when any official student record is changed — including updates to names or pronouns. The vote took place at a board meeting on June 24, passing 4–1 with Trustee Steve Schwartz casting the only dissenting vote. Under the updated policy, schools must use an automated online portal to inform parents of changes to their child’s records, including gender identity, chosen names, and pronoun use.
