Firefighters stop Lake Riverside Estates blaze before it reaches Wilderness Area, homes

Quick action by firefighters halted a fast-moving wildfire early Saturday morning that threatened homes and the nearby Cahuilla Mountain Wilderness Area.Dubbed the Stallion Fire, the vegetation blaze was first reported at approximately 12:30 a.m. Saturday, July 12 at Stallion Court and Lake Canyon Drive in the unincorporated Lake Riverside Estates community, just north of State Highway 371 near Aguanga. Crews arrived to find a three-acre blaze burning in heavy fuels with a moderate rate of spread and the potential to grow to 100 acres, according to Incident Command.Firefighters launched an aggressive initial attack, utilizing both ground and air resources.
