Churches bring great value to a town

Last week, Tim O’Leary did a good piece on one of our long-time churches closing. Some of the comments were nasty, saying churches are good for nothing anyway. On the contrary, I think churches, temples, and synagogues bring much value to a town, both tangible and intangible.The truth is, while one congregation may have closed, another one, maybe 10 times the size is thriving across town. Change is not always bad.Churches all have their different flavors and personalities, but I haven’t found one that didn’t provide some value. Different churches provide community for people of all walks of life in different seasons and situations.A church is more than a building.
