Alcohol expected to be contributor in fatal accident

TEMECULA, CA – On Sunday, September 28, 2025, at approximately 1:07 p.m., the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Border Communications Center received a 911 phone call regarding a solo vehicle traffic collision on the SR-74 westbound on-ramp to I-215 southbound. The CHP and fire personnel responded to the collision scene. The 42-year-old male driver, residing out of Moreno Valley, CA, was located on the ground and was transported by ambulance to Inland Valley Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased at 1:59 p.m.

Upon further investigation, it was determined the 42-year-old male was driving a 2014
Chevrolet 2500 HD pickup truck at an undetermined speed. The driver failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway causing his vehicle to collide with a curb and overturn. The driver was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. Alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor to this collision. The traffic collision is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol, Temecula Area. The CHP would like to remind motorists to always buckle-up. Seatbelts can save lives and prevent injuries. Always designate a sober driver.
