At least one hospitalized, one arrested on suspicion of DUI after Hemet crash

At least one young woman was hospitalized and a man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a two-vehicle collision Wednesday afternoon in Hemet, according to witnesses.

The crash was reported around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Carmalita.

Street and Kimball Avenue. Witnesses said a man driving a gray Honda collided with a white Honda carrying a mother and her daughter.

Both occupants of the white car were injured. The daughter, who was in the passenger seat, was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. The mother, who was also injured, was reportedly also taken to a local hospital by other means.

The driver of the gray car was arrested on suspicion of DUI after failing a breathalyzer test, witnesses said. His name was not immediately released.

The white Honda was towed from the scene, while a friend or family member reportedly drove the gray car away.

The Hemet Police Department is investigating the incident.
