Fully engulfed vehicle fire reported on Winchester Road in Temecula

A vehicle fire was reported Monday afternoon on Winchester Road near Hunter Road in Temecula, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident was reported at approximately 11:51 a.m. as a vehicle traveling northbound on State Route 79 pulled to the right shoulder after smoke and flames were seen coming from underneath the vehicle. CHP logs indicate the vehicle, described as a white Nissan sedan, was fully engulfed at one point.

Fire crews were dispatched to the scene, with multiple engines responding. CHP reported heavy smoke and flames beneath the vehicle, and traffic was affected in the northbound lanes between Hunter Road and La Alba Drive.

Officials initially reported uncertainty as to whether occupants had exited the vehicle, but later updates confirmed all occupants were out of the vehicle and no injuries were reported.

Tow services were requested, and fire personnel worked to extinguish the blaze. The incident was listed as a vehicle fire, and traffic was temporarily impacted while emergency crews cleared the scene.
